BADSUF develop training courses.
Ben and Frank have been working hard on an advocacy training program for SWUF members supported by the National Treatment Agency.
the advocacy training course is designed for prospective advocates and forum managers or coordinators who are hoping to establish an advocacy service in the future.
the course is divided into two parts:
Part 1. (advocacy introduction).
Focuses on getting ready to run advocacy as a forum or organisation. It highlights the basics of advocacy from ethos and definitions to the skills of an advocate. It also focuses on the recruitment process of hiring or taking on volunteer advocates and targets correct procedures for monitoring and improving your service once it is up and running.
Part 2.
Specifically focuses on the advocates core skills. exploring examples of good practice across a range of communication skills. it also focuses on management of advocacy and beyond. a far more intensive course designed to strengthen core skills and bolster your advocates skills.
Part one will be run for the first time for 20 - 24 persons on Friday 27th April 2007 in Bournemouth. For more details please contact Ben or Frank via the contacts page. |
